Jerrod Westfahl

Of Counsel

Kelli Maydew

Jerrod Westfahl grew up on a diversified farm in Reno County, Kansas. He earned his B.S. in Agriculture (Ag Economics) from K-State in 1997. As an undergraduate, Jerrod worked for Advance Trading, an independent ag commodity brokerage firm in Illinois, Farmland Industries at its headquarters, and the American Royal Association. His research projects included analyzing the original business model of U.S. Premium Beef and spread patterns in the cattle futures markets.

He earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Kansas in 2000 and was Managing Editor of the law review.

For several years, Jerrod was in private practice with Shook, Hardy and Bacon, LLP, serving Fortune 500 clients in various federal and state courts. Anxious to return closer to family, he then joined Arthur-Green, LLP, in Manhattan, Kansas, for two years where his practice more broadly addressed business formation, risk avoidance, taxation, succession planning, real estate use and sales, entity combinations, secured transactions, and general civil litigation.

He left private practice from 2007 to 2013 to serve in various executive roles with venture capital-backed Purple Wave, Inc., including four years as President and CEO. During his tenure, Purple Wave navigated several transformation stages to become a noted disruptor of the multi-billion dollar equipment auction space. He had full P&L responsibility for the eighty-employee enterprise and guided it to a thirty-plus percent compound annual growth rate during his four years as chief executive.

Coupled with his legal background, Jerrod's business experience helps him understand the operating realities his clients face in many contexts such as board and investor relations, business strategy development and execution, corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, and change leadership.

Jerrod joins Allie and John as Of Counsel to the firm. Combined, their complimentary experience and expertise enable the three of them to deliver an even deeper set of legal services to firm clients.

Jerrod and his wife Amy (Moxley) live in Manhattan and have three young children.
